Privacy Policy
Version 1.0 — Effective June 22, 2026
Plain-English summary
When you buy Calstead we collect the few things we need to deliver it: your email, your GitHub username, and the payment details Stripe hands us. We use them to give you repo access and support, and we never sell that purchase information. For US visitors we use Google Analytics and the Meta Pixel to measure traffic and ads (you can opt out via Your Privacy Choices); EU/UK visitors get no such cookies. Calstead is self-hosted software — once you deploy it, your booking pages and your invitees' data live on your own infrastructure and never reach us.
This Privacy Policy explains how Fieldway, LLC, doing business as Calstead ("Calstead," "we," "us"), handles personal information collected through calstead.com and the purchase of a Calstead license. It does not cover any Calstead instance you deploy and operate yourself — see "Self-hosted instances" below.
1. Information we collect
Information you provide at purchase. When you check out, we collect your email address and, optionally, the GitHub username you supply so we can grant access to the private source repository.
Payment information. Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not receive or store your full card number. We retain the records needed to fulfill and support your order: Stripe customer, payment, and checkout-session identifiers, the amount paid, the tier purchased, and your fulfillment status.
Support communications. If you email us or contact us through Discord, we receive whatever information you choose to share.
Technical data. Our hosting provider records standard server logs (such as IP address and request metadata) for security and reliability. Stripe may set cookies during checkout to process your payment and prevent fraud.
Analytics & advertising cookies. For visitors in the United States, calstead.com uses Google Analytics and the Meta (Facebook) Pixel — which set cookies and similar identifiers — to measure site traffic and the performance of our advertising, and to build advertising audiences. Visitors in the EU and UK are detected by region and are not served these analytics or advertising cookies. US visitors can opt out at any time via Your Privacy Choices.
2. Self-hosted instances
Calstead is software you run on your own servers. When you deploy it, the booking pages you create and the data your invitees enter (names, email addresses, meeting details) are stored on infrastructure you control — typically your own Vercel project, database, and calendar feeds. That data is never transmitted to Calstead or Fieldway, LLC, and we have no access to it. For the people who book time with you, you are the data controller; this policy does not govern that relationship.
3. How we use your information
We use the information described above to:
(a) deliver your purchase, including granting and managing access to the private repository; (b) send transactional email about your order (purchase confirmation, repo invitation, and refund or account notices); (c) provide customer support; (d) process payments, refunds, and prevent fraud; and (e) comply with legal, tax, and accounting obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
4. Who we share it with
We share information only with service providers ("sub-processors") who help us run the business, each handling only what their function requires:
Stripe — payment processing and fraud prevention. Neon — the database that stores purchase and fulfillment records. Vercel — hosting for calstead.com and its server functions. Resend — delivery of transactional email. GitHub — provisioning your access to the private source repository. Discord — community and support communications, if you choose to contact us there. Google — website analytics (Google Analytics), for US visitors. Meta — advertising and conversion measurement (Meta Pixel), for US visitors.
We may also disclose information if required by law, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this policy.
5. Data retention
We keep purchase and fulfillment records for as long as your license is active and thereafter as needed for support, tax, and legal recordkeeping. We may retain transaction records longer where required by law. You can ask us to delete information that we are not legally required to keep.
6. Your rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of the personal information we hold about you, and you may ask us to stop sending non-essential email. To make a request, email hello@calstead.com. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA; we honor those rights where they apply.
California — Do Not Sell or Share. Our use of the Meta Pixel and Google Analytics for advertising may be considered a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising under the California Consumer Privacy Act. California residents (and any US visitor) can opt out at Your Privacy Choices, which disables these cookies on your browser. Visitors in the EU and UK are not served these advertising or analytics cookies at all.
7. Security
We use reputable infrastructure providers and reasonable safeguards to protect the information we hold. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data and to limit what we collect in the first place.
8. Children
Calstead is a business tool not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the version and date above. Material changes will be reflected on this page.
